Miss Serena Ledwidge is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. She is Clinical Effectiveness Lead, Educational Lead and Principal Investigator for the POETIC, OPPORTUNE and ARB clinical trials at the Barts Health Breast Unit.

She qualified from The University of Oxford Medical School in 2002. During her training she completed National and International Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellowships at the Royal Perth Hospital, Australia in 2009 and at the University Hospital of South Manchester in 2010-11. Her main areas of interest are oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery, including therapeutic mammoplasty, implant-based reconstruction, latissimus dorsi flap reconstruction and lipofilling.

She has a Masters in Surgical Education from Imperial College, London, teaches on the Masters in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery course at the University of East Anglia and is an educational supervisor of Foundation Year doctors. She examines for the Final MB BS at Barts and the London School of Medicine. She writes, validates and standard sets single best answer and OSCE questions for the General Medical Council performance procedures and blueprints the GMC curriculum. She also assesses Fitness to Practise pilots and in 2010 trained and was appointed as a Fitness to Practise assessor for the General Medical Council.
